Even teddy bears like to have a bear to cuddle! There's just something comforting about a bear. Although meeting a live one in the woods can be a little jarring.
Never fear, the bear in this blanket is perfectly safe for baby!
The body of the blanket is crocheted with Tunisian (a.k.a. afghan) stitch, and simple picot stitches outline the bear. The pattern directions tell you how to make the picots, and an easy-to-follow chart shows where to put them. The border is regular (i.e., not Tunisian) crochet.
The blankets pictured here were donated to charity. They were made with 4 skeins of James C. Brett Marble DK yarn, a self-striping yarn that gives a nice, fur-like texture to the bear, but any light worsted yarn will work well.
