This sock is a tribute to one of my favorite books: Bleak House by Charles Dickens. The plot is so deliciously tangled and involved, and yet resolves into a beautiful story with truly admirable characters. This sock uses a deceptively simple cable that is truly impressive when worked over an entire piece, and will make your socks look like a complex yet cohesive work of art.
This sock is written for 2 sizes, small and large. Size small is snug on a foot circumference of 9” and a widest leg circumference of 12”. Because the pattern is a variant of a ribbed sock, the large size will be elastic enough to handle larger feet over a large size range. Directions for the large size are in parenthesis.
I have provided a reverse chart for those knitters who enjoy symmetry as much as I do, however using the second chart is not necessary to have a lovely pair of socks, as the cable is pretty balanced. Note that the sock is knitted over a larger than normal number of stitches to compensate for the cables taking in a good bit of width.
Pattern will be sent via email in PDF form to the address used for paypal.
