The Montessori Addition Mat and Place Value Mat are used in working with math operations and learning place value utilizing the Golden Bead Material and Stamp Game. Finished measurements are approximate: Addition Mat 18" x 23" / Place Value Mat 18" x 20"
I believe this is a great pattern for a beginning sewist who wants to move on to the next level. The mats in this pattern use a very simple quilting technique that does not require any binding due to their size. Flannel is used as the hidden layer so that it is a very low loft finished piece that folds or rolls eaily for small hands. Even so, the light cushion of the flannel aids in keeping beads in place and avoids frustration from rolling unit beads and ten bars.
I have also sized the mats so that you may get both the Addition Mat and Place Value Mat from as little fabric as possible with minor waste. Included is a Cutting Diagram to make this possible. It's perfect for the budget conscious whether you're making one set for home use or many sets for school use.
