Item details

This is a real weevil (type of beetle) posed on a miniature bike. These insect dioramas have been seen in Apartment Therapy and hang in the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum in Hollywood CA.

UV rays are one of the most significant sources of degradation in museum artwork so we use Tru-Vue Conservation Clear UV blocking glass which blocks 99% of UV rays so you can enjoy your insect art for decades.

ABOUT THE INSECTS I USE:
With my unique background as a professionally trained entomologist & a Master’s degree in Conservation biology, I DO NOT work with rare or endangered species and only use sustainably/farmed/widely available species. A majority of my specimens I use are breed on insect farms that raise insects for live flying butterfly displays, zoos and collectors. These farms are endorsed and sometimes run by conservation groups (like WWF and Nature Conservancy) because they promote forest conservation by giving local populations a sustainable income that does not result in forest destruction, like agricultural farming or logging.

ABOUT KEVIN:
Kevin Clarke is a professionally trained entomologist with a Masters degree in Conservation biology – guaranteeing the highest quality and most environmentally friendly insects.
WINNER “Best of HOUZZ” (leading design site) 2014 & 2015. Kevin’s work has been seen in Pottery Barn & West Elm catalogs, AMC's Taxidermy T.V. show "Immortalized" and in the collections of the Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum.

FAQs

Like all fine artwork, avoid direct sunlight and extreme humidity.

Yes, please contact me with your idea and I can give you a quote.

My insects come from sustainable conservation farms/ranches around the world. I do not sell rare, endangered or insects recognized as unsustainable (Dragonflies, Bats, rare beetles).

By linking environmental stewardship and economic development, butterfly farming positively impacts threatened habitats as well as human well-being. Currently used by conservation organizations, such as the Nature Conservancy and WWF, Butterfly farming helps save rainforest habitat by providing villagers an alternative income to agricultural farming and logging, which clears tropical forest. for more info Google "butterfly farming"

Since these displays are professionally made using UV blocking glass (so colors won't fade) and archival mounting boards - they can potentially last forever if treated with care. Most sellers are hobbyiest and DO NOT use UV glass or use proper materials - -and they will not last.
