Item details

In many beloved stories, dragons are considered magical and the design in this hat looks very much like the scales one might see on a baby dragon.

Yarn: 80 yards soft worsted (level 4). The one pictured was made with Berocco Comfort. The model shown is a doll similar to an 8 lb infant.
Needles: US 7 16" circular and double points for crown and i-cord or 32" circular for Magic Loop and two dpn for i-cord.
Notions: a ring marker and a tapestry needle for weaving ends.

Cast on, knit, purl, yarn over, k2tog, working in the round, i-cord.
Knitting i-cord is easy. Here's a YouTube video that will show you how.
Just copy and paste this into your browser.

I don't enjoy sewing seams and so the hat is worked in the round using either a 16" circular and double pointed needles or magic loop on size 7US. The construction is simple and yet interesting enough that you'll want to make more! The four round repeat is easy to memorize.

I've included instructions for how to knit leg warmers with this same stitch as a bonus!

There is a matching blanket pattern available too for those who enjoy creating a set. These make a great baby shower gift and hospitals welcome them as donations for newborns. The pattern is easily converted to a smaller size for preemies using size 5 needles and DK weight yarn.

No shipping fees as this pattern can be downloaded by you in PDF format once Etsy confirms your payment. I trust you'll contact me directly if you have any questions; I'm always happy to help when I can.

Thank you for your interest in my designs! Check back often as I'm always coming up with new things!
