A summer scarf? I think if it's cotton then "yes." Especially if it's ruffled cotton. This Ruffled Summer Scarf uses a mercenized cotton in a finer weight and the bright white just screams summer.
It is feminine, yet a bit ropey, and long and skinny and can be worn in many different ways: looped and looped and looped with ends dangling, knotted, wrapped like a cowl... It is full of generous ruffles, but it's easier to make than you'd think.
This PDF pattern includes a detailed color photo tutorial along with written instructions to help you create a Ruffled Summer Scarf for yourself, or to gift. There is also a one-page text-only version of the pattern for more convenient printing, too.
This pattern is appropriate for an advanced beginner. (Please see my blog, www.AestheticNest.com for how-to-crochet tutorials.)
