Item details

This is a hand carved rubber stamp of the Russian Sputnik spacecraft that was the first man made satellite. This small satellite launched the space race.

The stamp measures 2 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. (size can be change if requested)

Stamp is made to order and requires 2-3 weeks.

Stamps are mounted on 6 mm black foam for stamping ease and superior image quality. (can be unmounted upon request)

Stamps are carved from high quality OZ Kut rubber. OZ Kut is strong and durable, but accepts ink readily for images of fine detail. OZ Kut does discolor slightly, however this does not effect the stamp in anyway (your stamp may come slightly discolored from test stamping).

FAQs

I work with you via messaging on etsy to make sure the stamp meets or exceeds your expectations. Expect some back and forth until we get all the details worked out, like size, design, mounting, shipping, etc.

My hand carved rubber stamps are made of durable and long lasting vinyl rubber. They can be washed with water, and dried with a paper towel. Some staining of the material occurs depending on the inks you use, but it in no way damages the quality of the image produced by the stamp.

Normally I mount stamps to 6mm black foam. This gives the user something to hold onto and allows you to apply firm pressure to the back of the stamp. Foam mounting is free. If you use acrylic or acetate mounting blocks, I can also mount your stamp to cling foam free of charge upon request. I don't recommend wood mounting for all my stamps, especially larger ones, since it will effect the quality of the image the stamps produces in some cases. However I will work with you if you want a wood mounted stamp, and a minimum of a $10 mounting fee will be added to the price of the stamp.

Ink is not included in your purchase but any type of ink can be used with my hand carved stamps. I love the Staz-On solvent inks for paper, wood, fabric, and even non-porous surfaces like glass! They do stain your stamp, but that does not effect the ability for the stamp to make great images. Pigment inks like Colorbox and Brillance are bold and opagque, they just take a bit longer to dry, and they really should only be used on paper. Dye based inks dry really fast and are water soluble, and they have a watercolor type look on paper. Whatever ink you choose, my stamps can handle it for years to come.
