Easy knitting on a set of 10mm needles, knitted flat but could easily be adapted for dpns. Takes about 3ozs 90yards Fiberartemis thick and thin yarn. My favourite hat of the moment, I have been looking for a beanie with just the right amount of slouch so I designed one!

A note about 'white bits' .
Each roving goes through my hands about 5 times in different parts of the process. I do my utmost to avoid light spots or white bits where they are unintentional, as this is a hand made product however occasionally they do occur. I usually make my rovings a bit overweight so if you desire and you do find a white bit please just pluck it out. You don't have to use it! Sometimes though they are intentionally there to lighten the colour as you spin.
Possum may not be for everyone but is an ecological luxury fiber. I am completely against farming animals for fur and was a vegetarian when I arrived in New Zealand, therefore was initially a bit dubious about possum. However, the possum here was an inroduced species which now numbers about 17 per person.Omnivorous,it crunches through our rainforest and endangers native birds such as the rare kiwi. The fiber is a useful way to utilise rather than just completely waste the by-products of harvesting the possum. The possums are NOT farmed for their fur, they are harvested from the wild.
It is not an endangered or protected species therefore there should be no problem importing it.I have checked with our customs that it is so,but it may be worthwhile checking your countries import restrictions.
