I created this pop tab purse for a client, Rita. She loved the purse and got so many compliments on it that I decided to offer the purse for sale complete with interchangeable handles and closure flaps. It has been one of my best selling items and I continue to get compliments everywhere I carry mine. It became the basis for my Build Your Own Purse line available here in my Etsy shop.
I have received requests for a pattern for the purse from many handy pop tab crafters so I finally got myself organized and created the pattern.
The bag is such the right size - not too small, not too large - to carry most daily items you need for a busy woman on the go. The handles can be made for hand, shoulder or cross-body carry. With the carabiners, snaps and clips, you can make multiple handles and change your style depending on how you feel each day!
The tutorial is a 26 page PDF file that will be emailed to you within 24 hours of purchase. It is filled with step by step photos, instructions and explanations. Even beginner crocheters will be able to follow these easy directions and experienced crocheters will be learning in a breeze!
For one purse, you will need:
* about 500 cleaned, disinfected and trimmed pop tabs * 1 spool #18 La Espiga nylon yarn or yarn of choice * 1 spool # 2 Omega nylon yarn or yarn of choice * 2 crochet hooks - #00/3.5mm and #5/1.90mm ( or larger hooks for larger yarn) * tapestry needle * 2 large carabiner clips with D or O ring attached * 2 large gated O rings or 4 D rings * 1/2 yd of material of your preference for lining * sewing needle * super glue to avoid fraying of nylon yarn * 1 large buckle for flap (if detachable desired, 2 small lanyard clips used)
