Item details

Included are 6ml sample size bottles of three new Color Me This colors: Chocolate Mousse, Red Velvet, and Cheesecake. Packaged in controlled release dropper bottles, there is plenty for many projects. Color Me This Patinas are easy-to-use, cold application patinas for copper, brass, silver and other materials. Simple to follow instructions are included. No heat is required. Just prep your surface, apply the colorant, let dry thoroughly, sand back to highlight metal textures, and seal to protect.

From the time I started selling my colored etched sheets and components, I've been asked if I would sell the patinas. These are custom-blended colors developed by me in my studio and packaged for you. They are formulated from finely ground, naturally occurring colored oxides with a water base polymer/resin binder. The patinas have no odor, no VOC and are safe to use with appropriate care and safety. They will stain fabric permanently...ask me how I know!

The photo above shows the sample colors on brass and copper. The second photo is all brass. The third photo shows Cheesecake on brass (top) and Red Velvet (middle) and Chocolate Mousse (bottom) on copper. You can add additional coats to deepen the color or use over other patinas.

Note: the color of the base will affect the final color you see. For example, the red tones of copper get picked up by Red Velvet a little differently than the yellow tones of brass. The reverse happens with Cheesecake...much more yellow on brass. Experimenting will give you additional shades of colors.

I recommend PermaLac and ColorGuard sealants; however other users have had success with DecoArt DuraClear Varnish, Rustoleum, and DiamondGlaze.
