A very rare find! This drawing ink is in a bottle made by the Hazel Atlas Company. The bottom of the bottle has their signature mark. The ink color is Vermillion. The Carter's Ink Company that made this ink was in Boston,as it states on the box. The entire firm and both of its divisions and their separate buildings were destroyed the night of November 9, 1872, in what has been called the Great Boston Fire of 1872. All that was left was the company's good will and its formulas. In 1909 a new factory was built in Cambridge and occupied in 1910.
So this ink and box is over 100 years old! The bottle is in great ,like new condition. The box is missing the top flap. This would be great for the collector, for sitting in an art studio or for the artist to try the 100 year old ink.
