This 105 page book was written “to further the study of the piano accordion. The exercises contained herein, if carefully pursued, will be of untold benefit to accordionist, both professional and amateur. The exercises in this book are valuable for developing the muscles, improving the rhythm, strengthening the fingers, and perfecting the technique, without which interpretation and expression can never be acquired”. Quote from preface by Author.
Begins with diagrams of the range of piano accordion keyboard, standard 120 bass keyboard, the piano accordion keyboard showing the cycle of fifths and fourths, right hand exercises and graduates to a level that will make any artist a virtuoso with enough practice.
This is a comprehensive manual which includes things like all scales Major, Minor and Chromatic in similar, Thirds 1st form, Sixths, Contrary motion, Harmonic and Melodic forms, other forms in contrary motion, Scale exercises in Broken thirds, fourths, sixths, chromatic in broken and augmented fourths, minor sevenths… etc. Chromatic sequence of 7ths, dominant 7ths, diminished 7ths, combination chords, Pyramids or Bell chords for sixths, sevenths, tenths, diminished, and other forms in various inversions. Chromatic sequence of augmented triads, trills, bellows shake. I could go on and on, this is an exhaustive resource for anyone who seriously wants to learn the accordion. Also contains study pieces as well as exercises.
The book is in fairly good condition the spine backing has 1 inch separations at the top and bottom. The cover has two or three minor tears ¼” to ½”, some minor creases. Although it does not appear that the book received a lot of use, it does show a bit of age after all it was published in 1940. That’s over 70 years old and it has fewer wrinkles and tears than I do at 58. Again this is an excellent book for teachers, students, artists of any level – beginner -to those wishing to become virtuoso performers. Copyright 1940 by O. Pagani and Brothers. Shipping costs may be reduced by combining items or selecting another shipping method. The default option is media mail 2-8 days. If you prefer I can ship first class, or any other method you select at checkout. Insurance can be provided at you expense if you desire. Shipping costs of 3 dollars per item are added to your purchase price. If you purchase multiple items I will waive 1 shipping fee for every three items purchased. I regret that I recently had to raise my shipping fee, due to moving much farther from the local post office, but I still try to get it into the post office the next day.
Shipping fees are a pain, but it requires a good deal more time than you might expect, not to mention envelopes, sleeves, taping and cutting cardboard to keep your purchase safe through transport. I recycle cardboard so I have to cut it by hand which is laborious but I like the stiffness of cardboard boxes as opposed to the flimsy stuff you might usually see.
