Item details

The Highly Unlikely Hexagon is a beaded variation of the Impossible Triangle of Roger Penrose that was made famous by M.C. Escher. See to read all about it. While the Impossible Square is not possible to make in three dimensions, my beaded version has twisted sides, which make it just highly unlikely.

Compared with a regular hexagonal frame like you might hang on your wall, this frame has one quarter turn on each side. The effect of the quarter turns on the Highly Unlikely Hexagon creates an unusual effect that the colors of the sides and edges twist around the piece.

The beads silver, black, and gray, with pretty faceted green amethyst at three of the corners. As a beaded bead, it has one obvious hole in the center, but it can be strung several ways through the many 1mm holes with stringing wire. The beadwork is stiff yet still flexible.

It measures 49 mm (almost 2 inches) at its widest diameter, suitable to be worn as a pendant on a chain or a piece of cord.

All of my beadwork arrives in an origami gift box, hand folded by me out of beautiful printed card stock.

I don't have a tutorial for the Highly Unlikely Hexagon, but I do have one available for the Highly Unlikely Triangle, available here:
