Libbys Story Advertising Art Deco Ephemera 1930s Recipes Libby McNeill Collectible.

Libby's Story and Tested Recipes published by Libby, McNeill & Libby, Chicago, c. 1930 based on information in the FOREWARD. Small booklet with cover fantasy image of semi-nude young woman in sheer gown with arms outstretched toward clusters of fruit falling from the sky onto a large platter. Setting is in mountain meadow overlooking a dock and boats far below in a harbor surrounded by snow capped peaks. The fruit and harbor scene are obvious references to Libby's salmon and fruit processing operations. We are not sure who or what the scantily clad female represents, perhaps Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture. At any rate, the art in this book is quite charming.

Soft cover stapled book measuring 6" by 4.75" with 24 pages containing six lovely color images depicting charming scenes of the gathering and preparation of some of Libby's most popular foods. Page opposite color image contains facts regarding methods used by Libby to produce their foods and pages before next image contain a collection of tested recipes. The images appear to be reproductions from paintings on canvas, artist unknown. Back cover marked "X-174 LITHO. IN U.S.A." Book is in very good condition overall for its age. Cover is very slightly soiled and staples have rusted a little. Stapled binding remains tight though back panel has pulled loose from the staples. Pictures are lovely for framing, kitchen decor, home decor, decorative art, altered art, or other repurposing uses.
