Item details

The original 2-jar Jars to Go bag is good and useful; but what if you only need to carry one jar? Enter the Jars to Go Single! And now here it is in pattern form, so you can make your own. It fits regular or wide mouth pint OR quart size jars. It is padded with fleece to cushion the glass, and has a drawstring top. Not only is it useful for carrying your lunch, it would also make a great gift bag if you like to give canned goodies for the holidays! (Especially if you need padding for mailing those cupcakes or preserves in jars!)

The pattern only has one pattern piece, and is simple enough for an advanced beginner. And of course, I'm just an email away if you have questions!

Materials needed:

Pint: 3/8 yard of one or two fabrics for the outer fabric and the lining; or if you wish you may use two "fat quarters".
3/8 yard of fusible fleece
24" of cord, suitable for a drawstring

Quart: 1/2 yard of one or two fabrics for the outer fabric and the lining; or two "fat quarters", if you wish
3/8 yard fusible fleece

Also:
A drawstring cord lock to fit your cord (optional)
Thread

The half-pint size takes just a small amount of fabric, and is good for using up scraps. If you're buying, you'll need 1/3 yard, or you can use "fat quarters". You'll also need 1/4 yard of fleece, and 20" of cord. It's not really useful for bringing lunch, but maybe a snack? or a gift bag for jelly or jam? or maybe even bringing along jars of baby food? or for a little one who wants a bag "just like mommy's?"

Would you rather buy a finished bag, instead of making your own?

FAQs

I know my zero-waste customers want to know! I am happy to report that I have transitioned to all recycled/recyclable packaging products! Your order will come either wrapped in kraft paper, or in a cardboard box, depending on what is most suitable for your order. It will be sealed with recyclable paper tape. I do use heat-printed labels - I know they're evil, but they save ink (packaging) and trips to the post office (gas). I limit the "extra papers" to one business card and one tiny thank-you. I will leave those out if you ask.

Pattern worked well, cute idea. I suggest adding a step up front saying to cut fabric into rectangles (please provide rectangle dimensions for each size). Once I figured this out, I could cut out several at a time and it went significantly faster, all I had to do at that point was to go back in and add the notches.
