Item details

OLDER than dinosaurs! One of the oldest plants on earth! Fun to grow!

Your children will love petting their Rabbit Foot Fern ( Davallia fejeensis ) . . . as soft as cat's ears and they don't scratch. Easy to grow, lovely to look at with their delicate foliage and not at all temperamental.

Rabbit's Foot Fern, Davallia fejeensis, derives its common name from furry above-ground rhizomes that take in moisture from the air. These rhizomes are not only furry, but their crooked growth habit gives them a shape like a rabbit's foot. In USDA plant hardiness zones 10 and 11, rabbit's foot fern can be grown outdoors when placed in a shady location with low fertility. You can propagate rabbit's foot fern by division in spring or by spores in summer. Full directions for growing and information for dividing the plant as well can be found on this site:

This listing is for TWO divisions (planter not included).
