Item details

This listing is for 20 coffee, botanical name coffea arabica, seeds from Hilo Hawaii. These are from this year's harvest from our yard here in Hilo. Some growing instructions are included.

Coffee can be pruned and kept as a house plant in colder areas. In warmer areas it can be grown outdoors and pruned into a hedge. The white flowers have a sweet fragrance and in tropical areas the same tree can have flowers, green and red coffee cherries at the same time.

Coffee seeds can be shipped to all US states except to destinations in Hawaii - and I know they can be shipped to Canada.
Agriculture inspection is included for seeds going to the US mainland and isn't required for seeds going to Canada.

This is NOT Kona coffee even if it comes from the same island and is the same plant in a botanical sense. Kona Coffee is a legal description rather than a plant description and only coffee grown in a certain area on the map is allowed to use the term.

The colors selected in "attributes" are the colors of leaves and flower, not the color of the seeds.

FAQs

If I don't have clove seeds listed I don't have clove seeds available. I do not know when our clove tree will have seeds again, this is not a regular thing. I do not ship to countries that require phytosanitary certificates (but I do ship to Puerto Rico).

I usually ship on the same day for orders received by 6 a.m. HST during the week and the next weekday otherwise. I can ship items that don't have to go through Agriculture Inspection on Saturdays, but there is no mail going out of here on Sundays.

Given that I'm outside the contiguous 48 US States I usually ship bigger orders by priority mail. I use flat rate envelopes or boxes and I'm happy to combine shipments, even if they are not ordered together, and refund the extra postage - until the order is shipped. I reuse bubble wrap and packing peanuts as I'm happy to get them off island to keep them out of our landfill.

All domestic orders shipped first class and priority mail are shipped with delivery confirmation. For international orders there may or may not be delivery confirmation.

Being that I'm shipping from Hawaii, checks or money orders may take a while to get here if you don't use Paypal or direct checkout. Mail to and from here can take 2 weeks, though doesn't normally take more than 4-5 days to the East Coast and usually arrives the next day within the state - parcel post can take 6 weeks, so I try to avoid it.

Small items will be shipped first class mail, with delivery confirmation for domestic (US) orders, and, living on an island I may reuse padded envelopes in shipping as they can't be recycled here. If the total postage charged exceeds the price for the smallest priority mail unit the order will fit in I will upgrade to priority mail.

For international orders, customs duty and VAT that may be added on the customer's side are the customer's responsibility.

Payments

Money orders may be treated the same way as checks because I may only have time to deposit them with checks (outside of my working hours for my day job, I know where the ATMs are to deposit them).

Contact me within: 14 days of delivery
Ship items back within: 30 days of delivery
I don't accept cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Conditions of return
Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.
Additional return information
If you are unhappy with an item I'm happy to accept returns except for clove seeds and earrings (the latter of which is illegal to accept returns on in a lot of states) within a reasonable time frame. I will refund the cost of the item, not the postage.

Additional policies

I'm happy to do wholesale or consignment for large orders. I'm also happy to accept custom orders other than for lampwork or for seeds that I don't have currently listed. If I have sold out seeds a custom order will get you to the end of my waiting list for those seeds, I do not prefer your custom order over others that are ahead of you on the list..
