Large Antique Map of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, 1908 Crums Railroad System Atlas, 28 X 18.5 Inches
This large thick paper piece was salvaged from an unusable Crum's Standard American Railway Systems Atlas of the World. Each 28" x 18.5" map in this large tome consists of a single page that is creased in the middle and was secured from behind.
This means that framing is easy, and without the many folds that a travel map would show. There is printing on the flip side, and consists of towns, counties and index numbers for looking them up.
History buffs will pore over the details, looking at growth and even changes of landscape that happened in the last 100+ years.
But what is even more fun- this map shows 'banking towns' in red, and has different colors for different railroad lines. And there were so many! Before the dawn of the automobile, train travel was king, and it was the main way to transport goods.
The huge book that this map came from was used , and the pages show dog ear ring, mellowing of the page color from it's century of existence, and gentle discoloration around the edge of the page. There are also a few tiny tears at the edges that would be hidden when framing
This will arrive plastic wrapped to cardboard and protected in two more pieces of cardboard to assure you will see it in the same condition as it is now. Because of this packaging and inability to package with three dimensional objects, the secondary shipping is the same, however, if you are buying a number of maps, I will refund all of the price of shipping on any maps other ephemera.
As always, your shipping charge will be what the post office prints on the stamp for parcel post. If I quoted high, even on multi-item purchases, I will refund you the difference back to your PayPal account. If I quoted low- you've got a deal!
Your item will be shipped within 7 days. I recycle all of my shipping boxes and even some envelopes, as well as 97% of the packing material. Since it is Seattle, I often use Starbuck's boxes, and because I have a commercial bakery in my home, you might see a chocolate box or two. If you have concerns with my reusing these boxes, please communicate it, and I am sure I can find another source for your purchase. I ship USPS, generally parcel post. I estimate the postal charge when I list an item. If I charged you too little, lucky you! I will pay the rest. If I charged more than Parcel Post fees, I will opt for faster delivery if the amount covers that price. Any amount over will be refunded back to you if you paid by PayPal. Even if it's two cents. It's just what I do.
I always get orders sent out within 7 days. It is usually 2-3 days. Insurance is only used on larger, or more breakable items, and it is mentioned in those specific items. If you wish to have insurance, mention it in the buyer's notes. Often , the price can be covered with the amount you paid in shipping. If it is more, I can always send you a bill via PayPal. After I have sent off the package, I will send you a note to confirm.
