Our original red salvia plant was given to us by a fellow Master Gardener. We believe that is also called Scarlet Sage or Salvia coccinea. The flower spikes grow to a height of about 24 to 36 inches. The plant can be cut back during the growing season to make the plant fuller with even more flower spikes. They produce lovely red flowers that continue to bloom here in South Louisiana until our first hard frost. The hummingbirds and butterflies and bees love it. It can self-sow easily in the garden, so this should be taken into consideration.
Our plants are grown organically and are open pollinated. They like full sun or partial shade. The seeds were collected by me from our 2017 garden. The packet contains at least 30 seeds
