If you're into vintage fashions and sewing for kids, then you'll love this book - it's full of simple pattern drafting instructions to make over 30 outfits for kids, and most of these have variations included. You won't need to buy any more patterns for a while!
Enid Gilchrist was a fascinating Australian woman who designed hundreds of fashionable patterns for children and adults throughout the 60s and 70s. Many of her patterns were published in magazines and in specialty books/magazines like this one. She later taught fashion design and pattern drafting at the same college in Melbourne where I studied - although I was there much later than her!
This kind of pattern drafting is really easy - if you can rule and measure a straight line and draw a curve between two points then you can draft these patterns! My own mother used these books to make countless outfits for me as a child - she used sheets of newspaper to mark out her patterns as there was no large sheets of plain paper readily available then. Now I tend to use a firm vilene (non adhesive interfacing) to draft these kind of patterns onto, as they last well and fold nicely for storage.
This book is in excellent condition and is fully illustrated with diagrams, sketches and loads of written instructions for drafting and for sewing your own creations. There are far too many patterns to show here!

Shipping & policies
I try to keep shipping costs to a minimum, so I use regular Australia Post within Australia and regular Air Mail for international orders.
Most patterns are able to be mailed from Australia as a "Large Letter", which means that no customs declaration is required if the letter weighs under 500 grams, and is under 20 mm thick. Large letters will be marked "printed matter only", and no customs declaration is necessary.
Currently, there is no tracking or insurance included with regular international Air mail. If you would like added insurance or express post options, please contact me before purchasing for a shipping quote.
As a buyer, you are responsible for paying any import duty and taxes which may apply to your country and / or state.
Unfortunately I cannot be responsible for delays caused by customs holds or for customs seizing your purchase. You take the responsibility for knowing what items can be shipped to your country. Also, import taxes are the responsibility of the buyer. Please do not ask me to misrepresent the content of your package.
Please note, I do NOT ship to Italy.
Currently I accept PayPal and direct checkout on Etsy for payment.
If you are in Australia, you can also choose the bank transfer method.
Returns & exchanges
I check all patterns for completeness and condition prior to listing. If you think something is different than it was portrayed, please contact me within 7 days of receiving.
I offer refunds (minus shipping) if you are dissatisfied with a product. But if requested, buyer is responsible for return shipping costs and item must be returned in the same condition it was sent.
I use a digital scanner to image sewing patterns.
Often I try to enhance a pattern, to make the garment illustration more obvious in search results. However, I always include a scan of the pattern in its un-altered state, so that you can see what the packet looks like. (usually image #2 in the listing). If you are purchasing a sewing pattern solely for use as paper ephemera, please use image #2 to check the un-altered appearance; Please be aware that the pictures also form part of the description.
