Have you admired the bargello quilts in our Etsy shop that Lynn has made? Want to make your own? Here’s the pattern! This gorgeous bargello can be made into a large wall hanging (what a statement piece!) or a large bed quilt.
The design shown uses a range of fabrics in three colors: black, red and white, with the red split into two groups. You could also pick a range of fabrics two or more colors (three colors work really well). The pattern offers some advice on how to choose and arrange your fabrics.
This is a pattern for experienced quilters, but Lynn’s careful instructions and tips for arranging your fabrics, cutting and sewing will guide you to a successful result. Fabric requirements are included for both the bed quilt and the large wall hanging.
Wikipedia says that the name bargello “originates from a series of chairs found in the Bargello Palace in Florence, Italy, which have a ‘flame stitch’ pattern…Bargello is considered particularly challenging…to accurately execute designs.” Originally a needlepoint embroidery stitch, quilters have executed these beautiful designs in fabric. Lynn’s design is a particularly beautiful one, and you can make it yours!
Wall hanging size is approximately 65" × 74" (165 cm x 188 cm)
Bed quilt size is approximately 103" × 103" (262 cm x 262 cm)
