Sized to an AG doll measuring 11" at the chest and 10 3/8" at the waist.

This pattern replicates an English gown designed for and worn by Queen Anne.

It was originally cut from fine brown silk. It had hand embroidered flowers in yellow thread copying those believed to be in the queen's garden.

The gown is made in two pieces. The bodice has a low-cut square neckline in the front with very narrow shoulders. The stomacher comes to a tapered point and is stiffened with heavy weight iron on interfacing for an authentic look. There is a satin or ribbon trim across the top of the front bodice. The entire bodice is lined with satin or silk fabric. It closes at the center back with hook and loop fastener. Snaps or lacing could be substituted.

The bodice has 2 piece sleeves with an upper and under sleeve that are tight fitting on the arms. They are lined at the cuff with matching satin or silk fabric.

At each side on the waist there are peplums that are slightly gathered. They are lined with matching satin or silk and have trim around the edges to match that on the front bodice.

The skirt is very full and gathers to a waistband. The sides are cut longer than the front and back to give an even length at the hemline. It closes with hook and loop, but a button or snap could be easily substituted.

The gown requires the Pannier underneath to give it's unique period style. The pannier is made with white cotton or muslin. There are saddles on each side to give the horizontal width. Casings in both the top and lower edges have wire hoops to hold the pannier in it's necessary elliptical shape. There are ties at the center back to hold the pannier in place.

As always, this design like our others, is taken from the pages of history. It is designed to look as close to the original yet be as easy to put together as possible.
