I have always felt that the Cecropia moth is the most beautiful native large moth in the USA. OK, I know they are all beautiful. And many would say the Luna is the most beautiful Hard to argue with that sentiment. What makes Cecropia special, in my view, esp. for artists is the moth has it ALL. Color, texture, form. The undersides of the wings are just as beautiful as the tops of the wings. The textures on each side of the wings are different and unique. The body of the moth has different color and texture compared to the wings. This moth simply has it all.
They are probably not used as much as they should simply because they are harder to raise in numbers and to good size compared to other species. That makes them tend to cost more than the other species.
Photos are of representative specimens. The photos are not manipulated in any way! This species has some variation in terms of color and size. The specimens I am selling here are of top quality, expupa, perfect specimens.
All my specimens are supplied as unmounted, wings over their back and in glassine envelopes.
PLEASE NOTE ABOUT SHIPPING----- I am not responsible for postal shock that causes antenna or legs to break off or separate. This is standard industry practive. That said it is rare but it does happen. Shipments are insured, should the specimens have wing tears or damaged then insurance will handle that and as long as the buyer helps with the claim, replacement specimens will be sent.
