Yak down is a relatively new fiber in western markets. For centuries Tibetans have been using the coarser "guard" hair of the yaks to braid ropes and weave material for their nomad tents. The yaks also produce a fine down undercoat that keeps them warm in the subzero temperatures of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. These down fibers have an average micron count of 15-18 and are comparable in softness to cashmere or camel down. Yak down is hypoallergenic and won't itch like sheep wool and other coarser fibers.
Warm and breathable, this luxury fiber can be hand-spun into a beautifully soft yarn. Ask for our 100% Tibetan Yak Down Fiber and let your hands experience it's beauty as you spin your own yarn.
We are also able to ship from China, and Canada. International shoppers, please contact me for the best shipping option to your location. Thank you.
I am happy to ship products internationally. I truly enjoy the connection I feel sharing in handicrafts that are produced all over the world. In shipping to other countries, I do my best to be as thorough as possible with the Post Office as to what is being shipped. If you live in a country that has restrictions on importing animal products, I will do my best to work with you on this matter.
