The creek behind my house is filled with dragonflies during the summer. Fifteen inch Cecily is based on several I saw last year. Cecily spends her summer zooming around the forest and creek, pausing here and there to enjoy the sun, sounds and sights, staying out of the way of the blackberry picking bear! Her goggles are useful for keeping dust out of her eyes and the magnifier helps in looking for interesting items on leaves. Cecily’s wings are made from old pattern tissue paper and wire and are sturdy enough for her to spend many hours in the air!
This pattern has over 65 pages of step by step instructions and photographs detailing each part of making Cecily. Detailed instructions are given for sewing the body, painting the face, making the wings, cap, clothes, boots and goggles. You can use many of your fabric remnants, and old pattern tissue. She can be embellished with many different types of beads, wire, chains, watch parts, anything you have on hand!
