This antique Maryland postcard from the 1920s depicts the gravestone monument for Barbara Fritchie, a friend of Francis Scott Key. In good condition, the postcard shows slight wear at the corners, crayon marks on the back and some other brown smears on the back - see pictures. This postcard is UNUSED and measures 3 1/2" wide x 5 1/2" high with a white border. On the back, it has a divided side and is marked as published by Louis Kaufmann & Sons, Baltimore, MD.
Fritchee (1766-1862) lived in Frederick, MD and was buried there in Mt. Olive Cemetery. She participated with Mr. Key in a memorial service when George Washington died and she later became a well-known Unionist during the Civil War.
