Item details

Crazy Quilting is one of my favorite techniques. The appliques in this quilt were fused and then satin stitched or raw edge stitched onto a background fabric. Corners are lopped off and scraps replace them to get the crazy quilt effect, which is easy sewing, Interest was added with the corals in the corners, and then hand beading was applied to the critters and the plants. And hand embroidery was stitched over the seams. The quilting was done on the sewing machine with straight stitch and a darning foot.

If you have never made a quilt before, I have six FREE how-to videos on my website: I realize that a lot of quilters benefit from a visual lesson in techniques like how to use fusible, how to satin stitch, or raw edge applique,. The most popular video it the one on how to quilt on the home sewing machine.

This quilt measures 39" wide x 29" high. Your quilt could be totally different in size or shape. A single critter would work fine for a place mat sized quilt. Or you could decorate a sweat shirt with lots of crustaceans. Think of the designs as tatoos. Yes I also bead my decorated sweat shirts and they go through the washer inside out. They stop traffic whenever I wear them.
