Just Horses 2, a PDF Machine Applique pattern by Debora Konchinsky, Critter Pattern Works
This is a digital file
There are 16 realistic thoroughbred horse drawings in this pattern. This a fused satin stitched applique pattern, where you choose your own fabrics.
All the drawings for the appliques are full sized to the quilt that I made, which is in the cover photo. My quilt measures 36" x 49". You can make it larger or smaller by changing the number of the appliques you use. .Because it is applique, the pattern parts are re-useable.
If you've never done applique before there are 6 free how to applique videos on our website, www.critterpat.com. I invented how the blocks are combined in this sample quilt. If you have a long block and want to sew it to a shorter block to get them to work together, just sew a strip of fabric to the shorter block. When I first did this in 1989, nobody else was doing it. People were making very symmetrical quilts where things were always matching.
My background: . I have been designing applique patterns since 1989 when I couldn't find a pattern I wanted to make. I earned a BFA in Fabric Design from the Philadelphia College of Art, and have won many blue ribbons at national quilt shows. My seventh grade teacher taught me how to write instructions, and my college professors taught me how to think outside the box. I try, in my patterns, to pass on creative thinking to quilters who purchase and make our patterns into quilts or use the appliques to decorate clothing. Place mat sized quilts are a good way to practice new techniques. My father always advised me to keep my mistakes small.
