Item details

Made of anodized aluminum, these scales are lightweight, strong, and colorful. These are great for making scale maille, scale flowers, or simply adding embellishment.

- Diameter of Hole: .22"
- Length: 7/8", 22 mm
- Width: 9/16", 15 mm
- Listing Color: Blue
- Listing Quantity: 50

These scales come with a small amount of oil from when they were die cut, and as such will feel oily and dirty. A small amount of buffing with a cloth or paper towel, or a little water and soap will clean them right up.

The last picture shows the colors I currently offer. If you would like one of those different colors, simply find the listing for it. If you cannot find it I am most likely out of stock.

If you are interested in greater quantities at a discounted price (3 or more), simply contact me or check for bulk specific listings!

~ Bulk Price Chart ~
50 scales - $4.50/(50 scales)
150 scales - $3.90/(50 scales)
300 scales - $3.30/(50 scales)

FAQs

Feel free to ask me if you have any questions on sizes. Also check to see if there are recommended sizes for the weave that you are trying to make. www.mailleartisans.org is a great place for finding information and instructions free which others may charge you for.

Some scales will have oil residue left over from the stamping process, but with some dish soap and water it should come right off. Most finished chain maille pieces benefit from this treatment, particularly aluminum.

Anodizing typically varies in color/shade between and sometimes within batches to some degree. That variation is more common in some colors If you are purchasing more than one at a time, you will likely receive rings from the same or similar batches. However, if you are ordering months or years later the color may be different. I try and leave notes in the listing if the current or dominant batch differs from the picture.

Large quantity listings are usually portioned out by weight which can cause the amount you receive to vary slightly from the amount listed. This is standard practice and not unique to my shop. You may receive a little more or you may receive a little less than listed. A typical range is ±5%.

Aspect ratio is a very simple mathematical tool which once understood can help you duplicate your work in different size, find weaves you can make with a particular ring size, and more.
