Some pieces may need to be joined before cutting fabric. All pieces are clearly marked.

The pattern consists of:
A long chemise that also served as a night dress. It has long peasant style sleeves that gather at the wrists and around the neckline.

A hip length blouse that has 3/4 length sleeves and a gathered neckline.

A short chemise that is hip length with peasant style sleeves. It gathers at the neck.

A skirt which is also called a petticoat when it is worn under the empire dress. It has a full width that gathers onto a narrow waistband.

An apron that can be trimmed on all sides or just along the hemline. It has a waistband that also doubles as the tie ends.

A bodice that was worn over the chemise and with the skirt. The bodice laces in the front and closes in the back with hook and loop but can also be finished with eyelets and lacing.

An empire dress that can be made with or without the long bell shaped sleeves. The dress bodice closes in the front with a set of eyelets that are laced with satin ribbon. The lower skirt is gather and is open in the front to expose the petticoat or skirt. It closes in the back with hook and loop but you could substitute eyelets and lacing for an authentic look.

A circlet to wear on the head with the empire dress for festive occasions. It is filled to give a puffy look and is trimmed with ribbon.

There is a lot of variability with this period pattern. Your imagination can create as many looks as you want.

The dress has been sized to fit an American Girl doll that measures 10 3/8" at the waist and 11" at the chest.
