Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush 1930s Period Ephemera - Cherished Black and White Book Illustration and Pages of Rhyme
What a lovely and magical rendition of one of our most cherished nursery rhymes. If this is what a mulberry bush looks like, I want one!
The period illustration is accompanied by a wonderful three page poem. The poem continues on the opposite sides of the printed text pages.
This black and white illustration came from a 1939 nursery book illustrated by Christopher Rule. The book has a few pages missing and many that were scribbled upon but many pieces have lasted the ages unscathed.. Each page measures 8" wide and 10.75" tall. The pages are off-white.
Each illustration has a period, sometimes art deco feel with bold dynamic lines, making this a perfect choice for decorating a modern child's room or boudoir. When looking at condition, click on the photo that shows the full page and click again to enlarge. Each piece has a mellowed coloring to the page, and there are random smudges and small dog-ears, and some roughness on that side that was cut from the binding. The paper is quite thick, and you don't see the typing from the opposite side, but there is ghosting from the page it rested against for the last 80+ years. I did have some success when I tried to use a soft eraser to remove the ghosting, but really, the point of buying a vintage item is to have the imperfections and patina of age, right? Generally, they are in very good vintage shape and certainly worthy of framing. This piece will come to you plastic wrapped to cardboard to preserve it's integrity during shipping.
This is a wonderful opportunity to achieve a vintage look, either in decorating or in your next project.
As always, your shipping charge will be what the post office prints on the stamp for parcel post. If I quoted high, even on multi-item purchases, I will refund you the difference back to your PayPal account. If I quoted low- you've got a deal!
Your item will be shipped within 7 days. I recycle all of my shipping boxes and even some envelopes, as well as 97% of the packing material. Since it is Seattle, I often use Starbuck's boxes, and because I have a commercial bakery in my home, you might see a chocolate box or two. If you have concerns with my reusing these boxes, please communicate it, and I am sure I can find another source for your purchase. I ship USPS, generally parcel post. I estimate the postal charge when I list an item. If I charged you too little, lucky you! I will pay the rest. If I charged more than Parcel Post fees, I will opt for faster delivery if the amount covers that price. Any amount over will be refunded back to you if you paid by PayPal. Even if it's two cents. It's just what I do.
I always get orders sent out within 7 days. It is usually 2-3 days. Insurance is only used on larger, or more breakable items, and it is mentioned in those specific items. If you wish to have insurance, mention it in the buyer's notes. Often , the price can be covered with the amount you paid in shipping. If it is more, I can always send you a bill via PayPal. After I have sent off the package, I will send you a note to confirm.

Returns & exchanges
I want you to be as excited when you open the box as the moment you purchased it. If it isn't what you were thinking, contact me and I will make sure you end this transaction satisfied. If the item arrives broken, I might ask you to present me with a photo of the damage, but then return the cost of the item and shipping for that item. At 2950 sales, I have had 3 items lost in the mail. If you have waited what you feel is a reasonable time, please contact me, and I'll go through my tracking to see if there is anything I can do.
I love to ship internationally, so contact me about any item and I'll add your country to the shipping options. On out of country purchases, only PayPal can be used as a form of payment. Thank you!
