In building our custom cutting boards and various other wood projects, we accumulate plenty of scrap! This listing is for a single Medium Flat Rate box of scrap (approximately 8-10 pounds).

--How many pieces are in the box?
The number of pieces varies depending on the size of scrap in the box. Most pieces are 4 inches long or longer, many are at least an inch wide, some may be irregularly shaped. We fill up a USPS Medium Flat Rate box which weighs 8-10 pounds. For the right person, many of these pieces are wonderful for pen blanks!
--What wood types are in the box?
It is a random assortment of whatever woods we are working with at the time. Woods we work with regularly are: Maple, Cherry, Walnut, Sapele, Mahogany, Purpleheart, Chechen, Zebra Wood, Bubinga, Padauk. Woods we work with irregularly: Chakte Viga, Marblewood, Red Zebra wood, Satin wood, Yellowheart, Canarywood, Monkey Pod, Wenge, Katalox and other exotics.
--Can I customize my box?
No. The boxes are pre-packed as we produce and clean up the scrap.
--Are these woods safe for projects involving children?
Some exotic woods can be toxic. If you are ordering scraps that will be used by children who may put the wood in their mouths, or not take proper precautions (masks when sanding), please email us ahead of time with the age group of your children and some details of the project. We can create a "safe" box without some of the exotics which may cause harm in inexperienced hands.
--Can I order a larger box?
No. We have done the math and the most cost effective per pound (approximately $2.25/lb) is the Medium Flat Rate Box so if you need more, we suggest that you order two boxes. In the Large Flat Rate Box, the cost per pound increases to $4.25/lb.
--How do you ship?
We ship in a USPS Medium Flat Rate Box (dimensions are approximately 14"x 12"x 3 1/2"). We fill it up, which usually weighs 8-10 pounds. Typically, delivery takes 2-3 days to most US destinations once it ships.
--Can I get a discount for ordering multiple boxes?
Unfortunately, there is no shipping discount for multiple boxes since these are flat-rate shipping prices and we have found this option to be the most economical offering the best value for the product at approximately $2.25/lb of scrap.
--What if I receive a box and I want to know what type of wood is inside?
Once you receive the box, simply photograph the pieces you are unsure of and send us an email with the photo. We are always happy to identify them for you!
On pre-made, non-custom orders, shipping will occur within one business day. Custom orders will usually ship within 1-2 weeks. We will communicate the exact time expected at the time of purchase (or prior to purchase if you contact us first). We cannot guarantee delivery dates due to variations in the USPS shipping times. We accept no responsibility for international orders which may be delayed at customs. Upgrades on shipping are available upon request and at an additional cost. Please contact us prior to ordering if you would like to upgrade your shipping method.
All Domestic orders are shipped with delivery confirmations and are trackable.
We currently accept PayPal and Direct Checkout payments. We also Accept Etsy Gift Cards!
Payment is expected at time of purchase prior to shipping. We will not ship without payment. For custom orders, payment is expected at the time the order is placed. We will email you to confirm your custom order. Once it has been confirmed by you via email, cancellations cannot be honored.
Sales tax will be charged to all orders shipped within the state of Arizona.
Returns & exchanges
We take the greatest care in wrapping and securing all items that are shipped from our shop. In the unfortunate event that an item is damaged during delivery, please contact us within 24 hours of receiving your item, send us pictures of the packaging prior to opening, and the damage to the item. We will either repair or replace the item once it is returned to us depending upon the damage incurred. If you do not contact us within 24 hours to notify us of shipping damages, we cannot replace your item.
We take the utmost care to ensure that all information on custom items is correct prior to building your item. We will send you a confirmation email prior to building your custom order to make certain that all information is correct. If we build the item according to your confirmed specifications, no refunds will be given. If we make a mistake on your custom item, we will replace it and pay for return shipping of the incorrect item, free of charge.
Custom orders are encouraged! If you want something engraved that you do not see in our shop, please contact us and we will give you a quote! We are happy to find new and interesting ways to personalize our woodworking. If you have a specific wood type in mind that you would like, email us and we will give you a quote. Most emails receive responses within 24 hours.
