**I am the only seller of original designs of Biscofleur and Biscobud Biscornu pincushions on Etsy - custom orders are most welcome either for traditional Blackwork or contemporary designs.**
Biscornu loosely translates from the French to mean 'horned' or 'odd-shaped', and refers to the 8 corners due to the way that this type of pin cushion is sewn up.
I've designed this to be suitable for those wishing to try their hand at making this type of pin cushion, and it is suitable for intermediary and experienced stitchers.
The inspiration for this design came from various 16th Century English motifs that were used during the Tudor period, namely Tudor roses and acorns.
You will need:
Aida fabric in your chosen count number
2 skeins of colored stranded thread
size 26 needle
2 glass 8mm pearls of your color choice
Although Blackwork was originally worked in black, you can use any color that you desire - as you can see I chose sage green on cream Aida.
The finished Biscornu will measure approx 11cm across and 4cm in depth if using #18 count Aida - it will be larger if using a lower count.
I have also made a video tutorial demonstrating how to make up a Biscornu once you have finished stitching the pattern, and the link is included in the making-up instructions.
