Item details

Superwash Merino/Nylon Sock 75/25
75% Superwash Merino/25% Nylon
Approximately 110 yards/25 grams
7-9 st/in on US

I am currently out of Carnation, Baby Blue, Gray, Charcoal and Black. I am very low (1-2 minis each) on Lemon, Tomato, Red-Purple, Cornflower and Teal. All of these colors should return to stock sometime during the week of February 26th.

Jazz up your sock projects with our new contrasting heel and toe yarn, now in 24 colors! Each skein is 1/4 the size of a full skein, or approximately 110 yards and 25 grams. These semi-solid colors (listed below) coordinate beautifully with our existing dyed yarns, and we're happy to help you match colors, or send you a photo of a mini next to another skein. We can also mail samples for a small postage fee.

***We can also create full skeins, or smaller skeins of any size, such as for hexi-puffs - just ask! ***

Please note: With listing variations, we are unable to indicate the individual number of skeins currently available in each color. While we make every attempt to have all colors in stock, if a color shown is temporarily out of stock, we will give you the option of selecting another color, or will dye it to order within 5 business days.

Also, some colors are very hard to photograph and may vary in intensity from those shown in the photographs - especially some of the blues and greens - for example, Turquoise and Emerald are much deeper and rich in real life.

Available colors are, in photo #1:

Left side column, top to bottom (also left-right in photo #2) : Lemon, Off-White, Goldenrod, Buttermilk, Tangerine, Pumpkin, Tomato, Chocolate.

Middle column, top to bottom (also left-right in photo #3): Fuchsia, Carnation, Red-Purple, Lilac, Hyacinth, Baby Blue, Cornflower, Turquoise.

Right side column, top to bottom (also left-right in photo #4): Lime, Grass, Teal, Moss, Denim, Gray, Charcoal, Black.

Photo #2, left to right: Off-White, Buttermilk, Goldenrod, Lemon, Moss, Grass, Lime, Teal.
Photo #3, left to right: Baby Blue, Turquoise, Cornflower, Hyacinth, Lilac, Red-Purple, Fuchsia, Carnation.
Photo #4, left to right: Tangerine, Pumpkin, Tomato, Denim, Chocolate, Gray, Charcoal, Black.

Our workhorse sock yarn base is 75% superwash merino and 25% nylon for plenty of strength. It's a smooth, traditional 4-ply sock yarn that is a pleasure to knit with. Colors tend to be softer and more muted than on our other bases.

Although the merino in this yarn is superwash, hand wash in cool water and lay flat to dry for best results and to extend the life of your finished creation. This yarn has been rinsed a minimum of three times after dyeing, but may still bleed slightly on its first washing.

Currently, yarn is dyed one at a time or in small batches, but if you would like to order multiple skeins for a larger project, I will be happy to dye to order with every attempt made to match skeins as closely as possible. Also, although every attempt has been made to represent colors in photographs, individual monitors may vary.

This yarn was dyed in smoke-free premises. There are two cats and a dog, but they are not allowed to play in the fiber, which is stored in plastic bags and covered bins.

Please note if you want your yarn wound into a center pull cake, at no extra charge.

**** As of April 2014, we are raising prices a little on our newly dyed bases which contain merino. This reflects a price increase on merino bases from our wholesale supplier earlier in the year - we are now dyeing on this stock. All in-stock shop items dyed before April 1, 2014 will remain at the old prices. ****

If you see a colorway you like but want it dyed in a different base or quantity, just let us know; most of our colorways are repeatable. If the base yarn or fiber is in stock, turnaround time is up to four weeks (but often sooner), depending on whether it is kettle dyed, hand painted, self striping, etc. Turnaround time may be longer if the yarn base requested is not currently in stock.

*** Requests by buyers to cancel and refund orders that have already been shipped are then subject to our returns and refund policies. Please see our refund policies for details. ***

*** Coupons only apply to in-stock merchandise - they can not be applied to gift certificates, custom orders, Chubbies, team orders or clubs ***

*** A note to our California customers and neighbors: Due to increased sales tax rates, as of February 1, 2013, we now charge 8.5% sales tax. ***
