When I first learned of barefoot/beach sandals (you know, the ones that don't have soles, so you can walk in the sand in comfort), I wanted to knit a pair. But the only patterns I could find for them were crocheted, so I knew I was going to just have to design a pair of my own.
This is that design.
These sandals are knit using a cotton yarn on size on size 7 needles. Unfortunately, I had to use a little crochet, but only the chain stitch and only for the straps and the toe. It's a fairly quick knit--you can knit up a pair in just a couple hours.
The gauge is 19 stitches and 24 rows over 4 inches in stockinette stitch. It's worked from the base towards the toe loop.
The pattern is written out and a chart is included. These are so much fun, you'll find yourself making them in every color you can get your hands on.
