This furoshiki features a charming scene that you'll enjoy relating to others as they gaze at the expressive, forlorn faces of 'Fujin' the God of Wind and 'Raijin' the God of Thunder and discover the causes of their consternation. These Gods are normally shown in imposing, omnipotent poses, which makes this lighthearted depiction even more surprising and fun.
It'ss about 50cm x 50cm(19.69" x 19.69") and is a high quality 100% cotton.
Fujin relies on fans to make wind and was re-papering one when a fly aroused his ire and caused him to poke a hole in his work in a fit of pique. He's shown lamenting what he's done as Raijin realizes that he's made a mistake in painting his taiko drum, the source of his thunder making ability. It looks like a traditional drum pattern, but in fact the details are off. As inconsolable as they look, one only hopes that they're finding some comfort in not being alone in their misery! If misery does indeed love company, then these two make a perfect pair.
I have another fujin and raijin design with two different border colors here:
The rich colors and texture and size have made these smaller furoshiki quite popular for home decor and in sewing projects! They can also be used as a furoshiki to wrap small objects-please take care to measure first, allowing ample room for tying.
