This is the Diamond Selector II by Culti. It uses, as do virtually all electronic diamond testers, the measurement of thermal conductivity to separate diamonds from other similar -looking stones. A diamond absorbs and dissipates heat more quickly than any other gemstone material, with the exception of the man-made stone Moissanite. When you turn on the tester, the tiny metal tip heats up a bit in about 20 seconds. By carefully pushing the tip onto the flat surface of the stone, the tester's electronic circuitry determines how quickly the heat is absorbed by the stone. If that rate is within a certain range, the tester will sound a "beep" and the LED light scale will light up through the amber and red sections of the scale. With any other stone other than Moissanite, only a little movement in the light bar will be seen, and no "beep" will occur. If you touch metal, the machine makes a rapid, distinct sound.
The best and cheapest way to make sure that the stone is diamond and not Moissanite is to use a strong jeweler's loupe. Moissanite is doubly refractive. If you look through the top of the stone at a facet junction near the bottom, you will see two distinct lines where the facets meet. Diamond is singly refractive, so you will just see the one actual line where two facets come together. You don't have to buy another tester to separate Moissanite from diamond, just use your eyes.
The tester measures about 6" long, and comes with a soft case, a soft vinyl tip protector cap, a metal tray for holding loose stones, a 9V battery and good instructions. Always protect the tip from damage and don't handle it roughly, and remember that NO tester is 100% accurate or foolproof. Always perform a variety of tests to be sure.

Shipping & policies
We DO ship internationally, and will add your country to an item's shipping info. upon request. We do that so that the shipping fee can be calculated accurately for each item and each country.
All shop item shipping costs are calculated individually, so that the customer pays basically the actual cost of shipping, nothing more. Any significant overage of actual shipping costs, especially on multiple items, will be refunded when the order is shipped. Unless the customer requests and pays extra for it, most smaller international shipments will NOT be insured or tracked because these services are not available through 1st Class International mail. Because of this, I cannot assume any liability for delivery of those international 1st Class shipments.
We now accept payment through credit cards, Paypal, money orders, Etsy gift cards and personal checks . On money order or check payments, naturally the payment method must clear the bank before shipment is possible.

Renouncing a purchase based on second thoughts or "buyer's remorse", especially on vintage and collectible items, puts an undue strain on both parties to a sale. Only on a case-by-case basis can I consider accepting an item for return when that item is not defective. Please note that there will be a 15% RE-STOCKING FEE imposed on any such agreed-upon returns, and the items must be in the "as sold" condition, not broken or damaged or dis-functional in any way. Any claims for return of items must be made 14 days or less from my shipping date, or 30 days for an international shipment, Any refunds made will not include shipping costs, only the sales cost of the item (s).
