This is an antique Iron latch escutcheon. Victorian in design. Measures 4 1/8 inches in length and 2 3/4 inches at the widest point. Two fitting holes for the screws. The center opening is elongated and on the back there are two projections at the bottom of this small opening. I believe this is a latch escutcheon Remnants of original black paint is still there, I have only oiled it. A great old salvage piece that came out of a New York Apartment.. Good Iron collectible. Recently I have been asked to put "Reserves" on items, but then never hear from the prospective buyer again. This is both frustrating and counter productive to me as a seller. I am very willing to accommodate buyers with reserves, but please contact me within 1 day with your final decision. Prompt communication can help us both.
