Item details

This yarn is hand dyed to order. See the shop announcement or shipping section for the most current shipping estimates.

This listing is for the short repeat variegated version of this colorway. See the Stripes, Minis, Heels & Toes section to order this color as a self-striping yarn.

This color is a red and green Christmas holiday yarn. This color is kettle dyed and highly variegated. As such, each skein is different. Some may be lighter or darker than the skeins pictured. Scroll through the pictures above for a good representation of how the dye lots may differ. Pictured on Tenacious Sock, Lovely, Sturdy Sock, Merino Worsted, Targhee Sock, and Bounce.

Each hand dyed skein is unique. Alternate skeins if using more than one skein of yarn. Different bases may take the dyes differently. See pictures for typical dye lot and base yarn variations. Some variegated skeins may vary slightly in intensity and color placement even within the same dye lot.

Dyed-to-order items may not be cancelled once the order is placed.

FAQs

Colors that use the same set of dye colors have the same name, although they may be applied in different ways. For example, Flower Shop Inferno is available as a variegated yarn, a Watercolor Stripes yarn, gradient- or fade-style half-skein set, mini skein set, and as spinning fiber. See the listing title and item details for more information on the color you are interested in.

Semisolid: A mostly solid color Tonal: Not quite solid, but not wildly variegated, either. Variegated: The color changes every few inches. These are sometimes called pooling colors. Socks/sleeves/mitts will be fraternal rather than identical. Watercolor Stripes: This style produces stripes when knit in small circumference projects, such as socks and mittens. My self-striping skeins are split in two to make it easier to match socks and mitts exactly. Mini Skein and Half Skein Sets: The color is deconstructed and spread out across 5 different skeins. These sets are are great for striping, gradient, or fade projects. They come as mini skein sets (100 grams) or as half size skeins (250 grams).

That's not a question, but I get you. Not every one loves the wildly fraternal socks that variegated yarns can sometimes make. I recommend using my Watercolor Stripes self-striping yarns to achieve matching socks and mitts. My Watercolor Stripes colors come automatically divided in to two matching skeins. Most of the colors that are available as a variegated colors are also available as Watercolor Stripes.

The majority of wait time is due to orders in the queue ahead of yours. I have a limited number of spots that I can dye each week. Rather than close ordering, I chose to extend the shipping times. The most current shipping estimates can be found in the shop announcements. RUSH ORDERS - Occasionally I can fill rush orders, but not in December. I'm sorry!

I host an audio podcast called Knit. Dye. Read. Although I do talk about Dyeabolical and related topics, Knit. Dye. Read. is primarily a personal podcast about what I'm knitting, what I'm reading, and what I am thinking about. There is no set recording schedule.

Completed on Christmas morning! I LOVE this yarn! The Targhee yarn is awesome to work with, this is my new favorite. I meant to order self striping but I'm very happy with the color way. The deepest green and red are amazing colors. I'll be back!
