It is a very quick and simple sewing project. There are only 10 steps in the instructions and no illustrations come with the pattern as it is quite self explanatory.
The cape is a circle cut of fabric with a small back neck collar. It is lined and closes with cording or ribbon ties. The original design had four rows of decorative embroidery around the cape. Ladies must have enjoyed hours of hand work before Franklin helped give us electricity!
Our cape has a single row of decorative machine stitching using thread the same color as the lining.
This could be a fun project to enjoy with your young doll enthusiast.
It could easily fit dolls of varied sizes by adding to or shortening the length.
The pattern can be downloaded INSTANTLY and is in a PDF format. Adobe Reader is required to view and print correctly.
