=================
AVAILABLE BASE YARNS:

LOVELY
- 75% superwash merino / 25% nylon
- round 4-ply light fingering weight sock yarn
- beautifully soft hand
- great for socks, shawls, garments and accessories
- 100 grams / 463 yards

TENACIOUS
-75% superwash merino / 15% nylon / 10% tencel
- round 4-ply slightly heavy fingering weight sock yarn
- very soft; the low percentage of tencel gives good luster without being shiny
- tencel gives drape, nylon gives strength, and merino gives memory
- colors may be slightly darker on this base due to the tencel content
- good for shawls, socks, and garments
- 100 grams / 380 yards

TARGHEE SOCK
- 90% superwash targhee wool/10% nylon (100% USA)
- round 3-ply heavy fingering weight
- targhee is a lofty, wooly, "toothy" fiber with next-to-skin softness
- great for socks, garments, and accessories
- 100 grams / 395 yards

STURDY SOCK
-75% washable corriedale wool/ 25% nylon
- 3-ply heavy fingering weight sock yarn
- Strong & sturdy. It is not as soft as merino and that’s a great thing for socks.
- 100 grams / 380 yards

SUPER EGO BFL
- 100% blue faced leicester wool
- round 3-ply yarn; technically a sport weight, but also knits well as a heavy fingering weight
- takes color more evenly than a merino with a slight luster typical of BFL wool
- great all purpose yarn for shawls, non-reinforced socks, and garments
- Oversized 150 gram hank / 440 yards, more than enough for most "one skein" sock shawls

MERINO DK
- 100% superwash merino
- 4-ply round dk weight
- tight twist, bouncy
- takes color brightly
- this is an all-purpose dk weight yarn, good for boot socks, garments, and accessories.
- 100 grams / 231 yards

MERINO WORSTED
- 100% superwash merino
- heavy worsted weight to light aran weight
- 4-ply, soft, round, plump yarn
- bright, saturated color
- Good for accessories, sweaters and baby knits
- A customer favorite
- 100 grams / 180 yards

All Bases: Hand wash cold, lay flat to dry.
Each listing is for 1 skein only unless otherwise noted. Each hand dyed skein is unique. Different bases may take the dyes differently. See pictures for typical dye lot and base yarn variations. FAQs

The majority of my yarns and fibers on this site are dyed-to-order. I always add extra skeins to any dye lot that is less than full. These extra skeins are put aside for Etsy updates 2-3 times per month. These updates are generally made on Etsy and are usually not announced in advance, so check back frequently. Larger updates are usually announced in the Facebook group.

Usually, yes. Some colors that have been retired can still be dyed if you are willing to buy the whole dye lot, usually 2-3 skeins depending on the base yarn. I am also happy to consider custom colors if the full dye lot is being purchased. Use the "Contact Us" links at the bottom of the page to contact me about your special order.

I will often use the same set of dyes in a variety of different ways--hand painting, kettle dyeing, immersion dyeing, semi-speckled, self striping, and "deconstructed" in to fade-style sets. I often use the same colorway name when I dye using the same colors, even if the technique is different. That makes it easy for me to keep track of and easy for customers to pick exactly the style they want.

Semisolid: A mostly solid color with some very light tonal variations. Tonal: Not quite solid, but not wildly variegated. There are stronger color shifts than in a semisolid colors, but all of the hues tend to be in the same family. Variegated, aka Short-Repeat Variegated: The color changes every few inches. The full color repeat is short, usually between 1.5 - 3 yards. Variegated yarns are sometimes called kettle dyed, space dyed, or pooling colorways. Variegated colorways may produce fraternal socks and mitts, rather than identical. Many of my Variegated colorways can also be dyed as Watercolor Stripes. Self-Striping, aka Long-Repeat Variegated: The color changes every few feet to few yards. The full color repeat is longer, usually eve

All of my currently available Dyed-to-Order colors can be found on my website or in the Etsy shop above. The listings may occasionally sell out or be deactivated so that I may catch up on custom orders, take time off, or so that I can make room for new colorways.

Hand wash in cool water using an unscented wool wash for best results.

I host an audio podcast called Knit. Dye. Read. Although I do talk about Dyeabolical and related topics, Knit. Dye. Read. is primarily a personal podcast about what I'm knitting, what I'm reading, and what I am thinking about. There is no set recording schedule.
