Item details

Complete PDF pattern for making a hand-sewn felt raven.

The Nevermore Raven was inspired by Poe. You can see him perched in Harbor Park and guarding the Camden Public Library. Ravens are clever and attracted to shiny things. They can represent both darkness and light, strength and beauty. Your raven would make a great craft project, Halloween decoration, homeschool inspiration, gift, or companion for a writer or literature buff. Cute and fun everyone! Each animal you make will have its own charm.

This pattern makes a raven that is 3 inches tall and 4.5 inches beak to tail. You could scale the pattern with a printer or copier for a somewhat different size. The pattern is a three page PDF file, with the pattern on one page, a page of instructions and tips, and a page of photos. Photos are in color, but all patten pieces and instructions are in black and white, perfect for printing.

All Pattern Fox patterns are designed to be simple enough that even those with just basic sewing skills can enjoy making them. Recommend for teens and up. Kids as young as 8 or 9 have made these animals working with an an experienced adult; sewing skill and patience matter more than age.

Materials needed: felt, stuffing, eyes, pipe cleaner, thread, needle and scissors.
Techniques used: whip stitch, straight stitch, threading and knotting a needle, cutting with scissors, spatial thinking.
