These are simply wonderful pliers, not well known and hard to find. I’ve been using a pair of these and a companion best nose pair for over 20 years; this adds up to tens of thousands of manipulations, mostly with stainless steel (much tougher material than plated or precious metal to work with) and they still grip well. The handle design is such that I don’t have any finger or wrist fatigue. Lightweight and maneuverable, I can hold both the chain nose and curved nose in one hand, using each alternately rather than having to put one down and pick up the other.
Made in Japan, the quality of stainless steel is superb. The handles may look tacky but they’re made of a tough non-slip plastic, no rough edges, very comfortable to hold and color coding makes them easy to spot amidst other clutter on my bench. The simple spring has just enough tension to keep the pliers open. Closing the jaws is almost effortless allowing varying amounts of pressure for the precision tips to do the job. They measure about 4-1/4" from tip to end of handle, and they're brand new, never used.
There are cheaper facsimiles of these on the market sold both on eBay and by a major findings supplier; I bought a pair for comparison and they’re just not worth using.
Good quality tools DO make a difference, ask any experienced jeweler....you get what you pay for. Wubbers lovers, Wubbers are a great brand, I find these way easier to use. Compared to their baby chain nose these are about half the weight and a little shorter, putting the business end closer to the squeeze.
If you do a lot of repetitive action calling for this variety of pliers, especially maille, or any other work requiring fine attention to detail I can’t recommend these enough.
