Original tattoo artwork by Nate Dostal
I know, weird name right? My hubby and Nate insisted his name was Dave. My lovely friend Rianne suggsted Dead Dave might work better, and so he became. :) I love Nate's charcoal work in this one. The design is relatively large, I wanted to keep the detail of the original picture, but at the same time I wanted to try to limit the amount of confetti stitching and colours used. I hope you enjoy it! I also removed the shading around the edge of the picture as that would only work on white fabric, this way he can be stitched on any colour.
A big shout out to Nate and the guys at Shogun Tats in Cambridge, Ontario.
Stitch Count: 237w x 339h
Design Size: 9 ½ x 13 ½ inches on 25 count fabric stitched over one. This does not include margins for framing, so make sure you add extra to each side when you purchase your fabric! Normally I add at least three inches all around (a total of six inches horizontally and six vertically) to give myself lots of room.
This design contains only full cross stitches, so you can stitch it on any fabric count of your choosing. While the original artwork is drawn on white, it would look fantastic stitched on a hand dyed fabric! Rianne is model stitching this one on Picture This Plus 40ct Phoenix and I can't wait for the pictures to start rolling in! Floss approximations are for 25 count fabric with one strand of floss stitched over one, so you will need to adjust the amounts for higher or lower counts of fabric. The DMC conversion is not exact, it is more a shade range match. Also note, Silk Mill silks are a fair bit thicker than a strand of DMC, so your coverage will be heavier with the silk than with cotton.
