With this sewing pattern, you'll be able to make your very own laptop bag! This is a DIY sewing pattern and NOT the actual bag.
Finished measurements (height x width x depth): approx. 28.5 x 39 x 4.5 cm / 11.25 x 15.5 x 1.75 in
If you want to carry your laptop and other devices in style you may want to consider this laptop bag as your next sewing project! This bag comes with lots of extra pockets and the shape of the flap and the attached piping give this bag its character. The Working Girl laptop bag has one main compartment, which fits most 15" laptops (refer to the measurements given above to make sure your laptop fits). There are three additional slip pockets, to carry your notepad or your tablet. As an extra treat there is also a hidden 18 cm (7") zip pocket within the middle pocket which carries your keys or phone. Remove the strap due to the swivel clips and carry the bag as a sleeve instead!
This project is perfect for someone with intermediate to advanced sewing skills. You should be familiar with the basic sewing terms and techniques. This bag pattern uses piping, which of course is optional but I recommend making it since it adds a lot of character to this bag. Making piping is not difficult but it takes a little more time and a bit of accuracy. A piping foot is highly recommended but a zipper foot can do the job as well. You will love the result!
The pdf file comes with 18 pages of instructions, 44 pictures and 2 pattern pieces. All measurements are given in centimeters and inches.
Materials needed: - Exterior fabric: 1 m or 1 yd - Lining fabric: 1 ¼ m or 1 ¼ yd - Fusible fleece e.g. Pellon 987F: ½ m or ½ yd - Fusible interfacing, e. g. Pellon 931 TD: 1 ¾ m or 1 ¾ yd - Cotton filler cord for piping (6/32”): 1.80 m or 2 yd - 2 D-rings 2.5 cm (1”) - 2 swivel clips 2.5 cm (1”) - 1 twist lock - 1 zipper, 18 cm (7”)
I recommend using a piping foot for the piping!
