10-12 inch long white Navajo Churro locks, washed. These are beautiful locks most in the 10-12 inch length. . Perfect for a Santa beard or for doll hair. This listing is for 2 ounces of locks. We have always enjoyed seeing projects after completion, and one customer, Robin in France, has shared a picture of his lovely doll wig that shows this fiber in a very sophisticated manner. I was totally impressed!
This fleece is a gorgeous white with luster. The hand is wonderful, and some parts of the fleece are actually on the softer side, but Churro should never be expected to be soft in the manner of merino unless you are talking about an instance where the undercoat has actually been separated by combing for this purpose. If you want washed carded fleece for spinning, I am also listing carded fleece for traditional spinning or to felt with. If you are a felter, it wet felts very easily, both the finer undercoat and the coarser outer coat. The felt created is exceptionally strong and has character - think bags!
The Navajo Churro sheep is a rare endangered American breed, specially suited to the desert Southwest where it was a central part of life. "Sheep is Life" is an expression of the relationship between the sheep and the shepherd/weaver/farmer. Whether you are interested in traditional craft or new applications of this beautiful primitive style fleece, it is a joy to handle this wonderful fiber and to see it transformed into objects where function and beauty are equal.
