Item details

The authentic, original Pondo Stitch technique as used by South Africans over 100 years ago.

This unique tutorial describes the Pondo Stitch technique with both a step by step visual guide as well as written instructions. The PDF also includes a variation for complete off-loom weaving. The tutorial is diagrammed in grey scale (three distinctive shades of grey) so it won't be confusing when you choose your own color beads from your personal stash.

There is no extra passing through beads, no confusing orientations that make it more difficult than it actually is. This tutorial contains the pathway as it was meant to be woven!

Written by the authors who originally brought Pondo Stitch (aka African Circle Stitch) to beaders everywhere: Nick Kap & Sue Mandel

PLEASE NOTE: The tutorial does not contain the pattern for the bracelet as shown in the image. This is for the stitch technique only.

Personally I find it difficult to work from black and white instructions :( Sorry. But, on a positive note, the tutorial was VERY inexpensive.

CAN I SELL THE ITEM I MADE FROM YOUR PATTERN?
Yes, you may sell the item from the pattern you purchased for "pin money"*. I ask that you give me credit for the design. Any alterations to the original design (change in colors, change in materials used) are still technically under my copyright, so credit should still be given to me for the original design. NO MASS PRODUCTION. NO COPYING OR SHARING OF THE INSTRUCTIONS.

WHAT IS "Pin Money"?
"Originally a small allowance given to a woman in order to purchase clothes etc. for herself. More recently it is used to describe any small amount of money which might be earned".

CAN I TEACH THE PATTERN AS A CLASS?
No. Please contact me if you have further questions.

WHAT IS YOUR POLICY REGARDING REPRODUCTION OF YOUR WORK?
I don't allow reproduction of my work. I make part of my living from my craft. It can take months to sometimes a year or longer to produce an item in its final form (from design concept and tens of trials and errors to a satisfactory end product to instructional booklets). I do everything I can to protect my investment while still sharing this wonderful & beautiful craft with fellow weavers.

WHAT BEADS DID YOU USE or HOW DID YOU MAKE THIS?
My patterns use products that are readily available on the market and not difficult to find. If you have purchased a pattern and have difficulty sourcing an item, please convo me. My instructions are guided by step by step images and explanations. For more detailed information, please purchase the pattern.

Thank you for your inquiries.
