Item details

Paksi is the royal bird of a Balinese court and it's Paksi you see depicted here in this unusual little cabochon.

It was crafted for me in Bali from cow bone and is representative of the unique culture of this island paradise, steeped as it is in ancient legends and storytelling through music, dance, and performance art as well as painting, batik textiles and stone and wood carving.

This item is exclusive to Indounik and you won't find it anywhere else but here.

Please note that the brown colouring of my latest batch of birds is darker than depicted here. Please convo me if you'd like to see a photo.

Please note that this listing is for one piece only.

If you love our feathered friends then you might like to visit the Bali Bird Park, home to one of the world's finest collections of Indonesian birds.

The park is set in two hectares of landscaped botanical gardens, including more than 2000 tropical plants.

The Park plays a key role in protecting and conserving Indonesia’s endangered birdlife, including the Bali starling.

The word for bird in Bahasa Indonesia, the language of Indonesia, is 'burung'.

History repeats itself, but the special call of an art which has passed away is never reproduced. It is as utterly gone out of the world as the song of a destroyed wild bird. ~ Joseph Conrad
