Shetland 3 Ply 100% Pure New Wool - Oatmeal shade. Approx. 420m per 100grms
This beautifully soft yarn has been spun at the Natural Fibre Company in Cornwall using selected fleeces from pedigree Shetland sheep that graze on conservation grade land at a Wildlife Trust coastal site. It knits up well using size 2.75mm (UK 12) needles with an average tension of 30sts & 40 rows to 10cm and 3mm (UK 11) needles with an average tension of 28sts & 36 rows to 10cm stocking stitch. However, it also looks good using larger needles for an open lacy pattern. Ideal for scarves, shawls and fine knit garments as well as lightweight jumpers.
The yarn has been used to make the lace scarves shown in the second, third and fourth photos and it can also be used for home dyeing. The lace scarf in photo No 2 and 3 was knitted using 70 grms of the yarn and measures 64 inches long and 5 1/2 inches wide. Pattern can be supplied with purchase of yarn if requested.
Please Note: This yarn is also available in 75grm and 100grm hanks priced at £7.25 and £9.50. Please choose the total weight you require from the drop down box and if you require more than 100grms, please adjust the number of hanks required. Quantities of 100grms or above will be supplied in primarily in 100grm hanks. All images of yarn show a 100 grm hank.
In order to keep your yarn looking nice, always wash gently by hand using warm water and wool wash liquid. Do not rub or use agitation. Rinse in same temperature water then squeeze out excess water by rolling in a towel. Dry flat away from direct heat.
