This 'holy' Maple was salvaged from an old telephone routing facility here in Atlanta. Thousands of these Maple boards held the hundreds of thousands of wires that made up the old telephone switchboard system. Some pieces still have hand-written notes about which wires went where. Although it's a little odd to work with all of those holes, I fell in love with this wood for the texture and the history.
Like all frames from the 'Reclaimed' section of my shop, I do nothing to alter the finish of the wood that has naturally occurred over the decades- I just make a space for art and add the hardware.
Each frame comes with conservation glass and acid-free backing- as well as a hanger for walls and a stand for tables. Custom sizes are never a problem, just convo me and ask.
I've been searching for a loooong time for a frame for this Polaroid of my grandmother. I was so lucky when I found blackrabbet's page. Marlowe was so easy to work with and this frame came out perfectly. Not going to lie, I've got some serious tears of happiness right now. Thanks so much for making me something that does my grandma justice. I'll be back again and will highly recommend your work to all the people I know! Thank you!
